My name is Andrew — and I grew up in the countryside where having a dog was just part of life. Nothing unusual about it — it was as natural as anything else. But those were different times. Dogs weren't "pets" in the way we think of them today, and nobody called themselves a "dog parent." Some of those early experiences were wonderful. Some were not. All of them shaped how I think about dogs and the people who share their lives with them.

Today, dogs are still very much part of my world. Close enough to see what really matters. I see well-trained dogs at friends' and neighbors' homes — and I see the opposite, too. The difference is enormous. For the dog. For the family. For everyone around them.

This blog is my contribution to more educated, knowledge-based dog parenting. Honest and practical — because dogs deserve better than guesswork.

But fair warning — not everything here will be serious. Some of it will just be fun.
